Our meat department is the cornerstone of our business. That's why at Lindy's we only cut one brand of beef – Creekstone Farms USDA Choice 100% Black Angus Premium Beef.
Creekstone Farms is one of 5 USDA Certified meat companies in the United States. Their motto is to “produce quality, not quantity,” which they achieve by feeding their cattle a wholesome, corn-based feed and treating the animal humanely. Their natural black angus cattle is never given hormones or antibiotics, and are fed a 100% vegetarian diet.
Our meat cutters are passing that quality right along to you! The only preservative used in our meat department is the refrigerator.
Almost all of our pork comes from Indiana Kitchen, where they believe that “Local is Fresher is Better.” Now Indiana may not seem all that local to us in Central Illinois, but all of the pork produced by Indiana Kitchen comes from hog farms within 150 miles of their processing plant. They know all of the hog farmers that supply them personally, and are able to work with them to produce the highest quality meat possible. That also means that they are able to produce the freshest cuts of pork, which are shipped to grocers like us in a matter of days.
Miller Amish Poultry is where we get our chicken. It's a small, family owned company in Northern Indiana. Their birds are hatched and placed on Amish family farms to be raised in a low stress environment inside naturally ventilated chicken houses – where they are free to roam the open floors. All of their chickens are antibiotic free and fed an all-vegetable diet that is milled onsite by the Miller Poultry Company.
We also carry a huge variety of Usinger sausages. They've been making sausage in Milwaukee for over 125 years. Usinger's is a one of a kind, nationally recognized family business devoted to the craft of sausage making.
